MA Bill SD.2310 (USA)

On August 21, Massachusetts Senator Karen Spilka introduced a bill, known as An Act Relative to Gender Identity on Massachusetts Identification, which would allow individuals “to designate ‘X’ in lieu of ‘male’ or ‘female’ on a driver’s license,” learner’s permit, or other state-issued identification card. The bill further specifies “[n]o documentation shall be required for such designations.”

If the bill passes, Massachusetts would become the third state to offer such an option (following California, Oregon, and the District of Columbia).
