B.C. v. Estes (USA)

B.C. is a pre-operative transgender inmate diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Prior to his incarceration, B.C. was prescribed hormone therapy and planned to have an operation to “remove his testicles.” While Plaintiff was incarcerated at Limestone Correctional Facility, medical staff continued his hormone therapy, but discontinued it when he developed cysts. He sued for cruel and unusual punishment, and the court allowed his lawsuit to proceed.
