Tasmanian Births, Deaths and Marriages Act (Australia)

Martine Delaney is a Man who identifies as a Woman. He welcomes a bill that will remove the requirement under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Act that transgender people must divorce if they want the government to officially recognise their gender (sic).

We support civil marriage for opposite-sex and same-sex couples and do not support legislation that requires heterosexual Men who transition to divorce their wives.

I agree. They are still a heterosexual couple even if he “transitions”, but if the wife still wants him, they shouldn’t have to get a divorce, and the state should leave them alone. It’s abhorrent that the government would force people to divorce.

Since it’s impossible for humans and non-human primates to change their sex, no one should be allowed to legally change their sex. If he is male, he is male, but telling people that they must get divorced is wrong. This is the state interferring in the private and personal lives of people. I don’t care how people dress, or even if they identify as transgender, but males are not female.

Opposite and same sex couples should be able to get married and divorced. If this were possible, then they wouldn’t need these horrendous laws.
