Manning v. Hagel @ACLU_NCA (USA)

Chelsea-Manning

Bradley Manning, convicted of espionage and imprisoned at Fort Leavenworth, is suing the government because he says he “has been denied access to medically necessary treatment” for his gender disorder. Manning announced in August 2013, the day after his court sentencing, that he is female. Manning wants o follow grooming standards such as growing his hair longer and using cosmetics, and to receive hormone treatment “in order to express (his) female gender,” said the suit filed in district court in Washington by the American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation’s Capital. Manning assaulted a female commander while in the military. He also threatened to kill his stepmother.

We encourage Women to stop donating to the ACLU, which has bought into the woman-hating “gender identity” agenda completely.

  1. It was the largest leak of classified documents in the entire history of the U.S. Manning illegally leaked 700,000 classified documents which included a quarter of a million State Department logs, (260,000 to be exact). Online, he went by bradass87.

The leaked video of the Apache helicopter shooting wounded civilians and a Reuters camera man could be construed as a war crime. It looked brutal and wrong to me. Having said this, judging by the sheer volume of what Bradley illegally leaked, there is no way that he, I mean, “she” could possibly have known what was in each and every file. 99% of the illegal leaks had nothing to do with possible war crimes. It was just the random dumping of files on a massive scale. I’m not buying into the idea that he did it to let people know what was going on in Iraq. Everyone knew what was going on in Iraq. Bradley joined the Army in 2007 and wasn’t sent to Iraq until 2008. There hasn’t been a draft since Vietnam and he volunteered to serve his country. By 2007, basically the entire world knew that Iraq was based on a pack of lies about WMDs, and that everything coming from Bush’s mouth was a bald face lie. The horrific Abu Ghraib abuse of prisoners surfaced in late 2003 and 2004. People knew about Falluja and secret CIA detention centers. They knew yellow cake uranium from Niger was a lie based on forged documents, and they knew about all the B.S. lies surrounding WMDs. Joe Wilson knew and so did Scott Ritter, former Marine Major and U.N. Weapons inspector. Where was Manning during these four years when the entire world knew what was going on in Iraq? I was on the streets protesting in February 2003 even before the start of the war. I stood in the pouring rain with my anti-war sign. Where was Bradley then? People knew Iraq was bullshit in 2003. So, Bradley comes along in 2007/2008 and says, “you mean to tell me that there are war crimes going on in Iraq…who would have guessed…golly gee”. Freaking everyone knew. There is a lot of information that states that Manning was having a hard time adjusting to the military, and a female superior had to hold him down.

I’m not buying into the idea that bradass87, Bradley, Chelsea Manning is some kind of hero. I tend to view Manning as a confused man who was having difficulty adjusting to military life.

There is no way he knew what was in each and every one of the 700,000 files. He just wanted to get back at the Army.

Gay men and lesbians have served honorably even before don’t ask don’t tell was struck down. There are horror stories of how gay men and lesbians had to hide their personal lives, and were often kicked out of the military solely for being gay or lesbian. These brave men and women ARE HEROES. Now, poor, misunderstood Chelsea comes along and is convicted of the largest leak of classified documents in U.S. history.

“Manning wants to follow grooming standards such as growing his hair longer and using cosmetics, and to receive hormone treatment “in order to express (his) female gender.”

The U.S. Army recognizes him as a male. If Bradley, Chelsea Manning, bradass87 serves his full 35 years in prison, he will be 61 years old when he gets out. So, he wants to proclaim his “female gender” while he sits in a military prison for 35 years. What is he going to do with his “female gender” while he sits in a military prison for 35 years? Won’t this be disruptive?

“Manning wants to follow grooming standards such as growing his hair longer and using cosmetics, and to receive hormone treatment “in order to express (his) female gender.”

When he swore an oath, the U.S. Army gets to dictate his grooming standards, and this doesn’t include long hair and make up on males incarcerated in a military prison. If anything, Manning has received far more attention and privileges than any other prisoner.

The real heroes are Sergeant Joe Darby who leaked the horrific Abu Graib prison photos and Joseph Wilson who knew that Bush lied about “significant quantities of uranium from Niger”.

  2. This is an article from

    http://www.forwardprogressives.com/like-it-or-not-bradley-manning-is-a-traitor-not-a-hero/

“Upon entering the Army, almost immediately, there are accounts of Bradley Manning’s conflicts with drill sergeants and his near discharge before even completing basic training. While deployed in Iraq he lacked discipline, seemed to be looking for ways to get kicked out and often was subjected to disciplinary action for his behavior.

Have many of his supporters read some of the transcripts of his conversations with Adrian Lamo? When I say Manning has serious emotional issues, it’s not an exaggeration or any kind of personal attack. In one of the transcripts with Mr. Lamo, Manning states that he didn’t mind being put in jail for the rest of his life, or being executed, he just worried about “his picture being plastered all over the World Press—as a boy.”

He seemingly wasn’t aware of the consequences that his actions might have on others — instead, one of his main concerns was that the world would see him in the press as a male, not a female, which he felt deep down he really was.

Here’s a piece of the transcript:

(1:11:54 PM) bradass87: and … its important that it gets out … i feel, for some bizarre reason

(1:12:02 PM) bradass87: it might actually change something

(1:13:10 PM) bradass87: i just … dont wish to be a part of it … at least not now … im not ready … i wouldn’t mind going to prison for the rest of my life, or being executed so much, if it wasn’t for the possibility of having pictures of me … plastered all over the world press … as a boy

(1:14:11 PM) bradass87: i’ve totally lost my mind … i make no sense … the CPU is not made for this motherboard

(1:39:03 PM) bradass87: i cant believe what im confessing to you :’(“

  3. Female hormones for biological male prisoners in military prisons is not “necessary medical care.”

“He also told me that the USDB and United States Army policy limit treatment for gender dysphoria to psychotherapy and, if prescribed by a psychiatrist, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medication.”

Bradley never mentioned “gender dysphoria” when he voluntarily joined the U.S. Army. His online name when he was leaking 700,000 classified documents (a quarter of a million State Department cables) was bradass87.

If he has access to psychotherapy and/or anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medication, how can people say that he isn’t being treated? If he gets female hormones, what will they do with him?

USDB stands for United States Disciplinary Barracks. The USDB is the U.S. military’s only maximum-security facility for males and houses male service members convicted at court-martial for violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Only enlisted prisoners with sentences over ten years, commissioned officers, and prisoners convicted of offenses related to national security are confined to the USDB.

  4. “Later that same day, John Lesniak, Chief Assessment Division, DTP conducted a series of interviews and evaluations to assess my treatment needs and risk for sexual victimization at the USDB. During those assessments, Mr. Lesniak designated me as high risk for sexual victimization based on the fact that I am transgender, am effeminate and have a slight build, among other things.”

I definitely want Bradley Manning to be safe while incarcerated in Leavenworth, but think about this carefully. He is a small male, a bit effeminate, and the ACLU wants Bradley to be more “feminine” looking (breasts and all) while he sits in a military prison for 35 years. I argue that giving Bradley Manning female hormones while he is incarcerated in Leavenworth is (1.) not a medically necessity, (2.) is costly and requires extra work on the part of the prison health care system (3.) certainly places him at greater risk of victimization – Bradley will have breasts and how often do the male prisoners see breasts (4.) is disruptive to the prison system.

Doesn’t WPATH transgender care require a one-year “real life test” before accessing female hormones and surgery? How is Manning supposed to live as a “woman” in a military prison?

This 30 year study of transsexuals states,

“Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group”.

    http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0016885

This 30 year study that compared transsexuals to controls in the general population basically said that SRS (sex reassignment surgery) helped some with the “gender dysphoria”, but transsexuals still had higher morbidity and mortality even after SRS.

Manning is responsible for the largest leak of classified documents in the entire history of the U.S. He already has received more special attention than he deserves.

Female hormones and sex reassignment surgery are not civil rights for male prisoners in military prisons. I want Bradley to be safe in prison, and he probably could use some psychotherapy, but female hormones for male prisoners is not a civil right.

In all honesty, the U.S. military isn’t going to buy it no matter what the ACLU says.

    • > Doesn’t WPATH transgender care require a one-year “real life test” before accessing female hormones and surgery?

Hormones can be had after mere weeks of therapy. I don’t know if a real-life test is something that matters anymore, except for access to US-based pseudo-vulva surgery (you can always do some medical tourism and bypass that, probably save money as well).

  5. “While my other treatment requests were pending, on April 2, 2014, I submitted a request to the DTP at the USDB for permission to follow hair and grooming standards for female prisoners; female-specific issued clothing; and additional, female health and grooming items.”

When Bradley Manning voluntarily joined the U.S. Army, didn’t he know that the military dictates grooming standards for all its male soldiers?

  6. So, bradass87 was convicted of the largest leak of classified documents in the entire history of the U.S. (700,000 classified documents – a quarter of a million State Department cables). He is sentenced to 35 years in Leavenworth (United States Disciplinary Barracks). Manning has the audacity to state,

” I submitted a request to the DTP at the USDB for permission to follow hair and grooming standards for female prisoners; female-specific issued clothing; and additional, female health and grooming items.”

“Despite my repeated efforts to follow each and every procedure to pursue medical treatment, I am not receiving hormone therapy or permission to follow to the hair, cosmetics, and nail grooming standards consistent with my female gender.”

He can claim “gender dysphoria” all he wants, but the U.S. Army dictates grooming standards for prisoners at Leavenworth.

  7. “On August 20, 2014, approximately six weeks after my attorneys put in a request for my medical records from the USDB, I was informed that I would be issued sports bras and female underwear. I received those items shortly thereafter but I have not been permitted follow female hair length and other female grooming standards that would allow me to outwardly feminize my appearance. And I have not been provided hormone therapy.”

They gave bradass87 Bradley sports bras and female underwear to try and make him happy, but this wasn’t enough. He has to have long hair and female hormones while he sits in a military prison for 35 years for leaking 700,000 classified documents. The military has ALWAYS told soldiers what to wear, and what are appropriate grooming standards. He certainly knew this when he joined the U.S. Army. Why is Bradley so special?

  8. “I have been receiving psychotherapy from Dr. Galloway, but she has informed me that she is not qualified to treat gender dysphoria.”

I’m assuming that Dr. Galloway is a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist. So, it’s not like they denied him psychotherapy.

“Because I have not been treated with hormones or given permission to outwardly express my female gender by growing my hair and receiving permission to follow the other female grooming standards, I am becoming increasingly stressed, anxious and depressed”

There is no such thing as “female grooming standards” for male soldiers, and Bradley certainly knew that when he joined the U.S. Army. As to being stressed and anxious, growing breasts while incarcerated in Leavenworth will just draw more attention to himself, and probably give him more stress and anxiety. It will also be disruptive to the prison. He is a small guy, and now he wants to have breasts while in a military prison. Why can’t we just say it’s down right disruptive and could further jeopardize his safety. I want Bradley to be safe in prison, but growing breasts is not in his best interests. How can a male in a military prison “outwardly express female gender” without disrupting the prison itself and military structure?

  9. “Instead of feeling more like the woman I want to express myself as being, I feel like I am just a “man in a bra,” and I feel as though I am slowly being poisoned by the testosterone that my body produces.”

The U.S. Army issued Bradley Manning female sports bras and women’s underwear to pander to his sexual fetish, but he states, I feel like I am just a “man in a bra.” He is a man in a bra, and it’s amazing that the U.S. Army provides him with female underwear.

Manning says he is “being poisoned by the testosterone that my body produces”. Bradley Manning has been “poisoned” by the testosterone that his biological male body naturally produces ever since he started puberty and it hasn’t killed him yet. I argue that an exogenous source of synthetic female hormones always has some side effects. Is there any drug that doesn’t have side effects?

“The medications taken in hormone therapy are processed by the liver. There is a possibility that taking hormones over a long period of time can
put strain on the liver, possibly leading to liver disease. It is generally recommended that MTFs taking feminizing hormone therapy get their
liver enzyme levels checked periodically to monitor liver health. This is especially important if you have Hepatitis B or C, are a heavy drinker,
or are otherwise at risk for liver disease.

Taking estrogen increases the risk of blood clots. Blood clots can cause death, permanent lung damage (clot in the lungs), permanent brain damage (stroke), heart attack, or chronic problems with the veins in your legs. The risk of blood clots is much higher for smokers, especially those who are age 40 or higher. The danger is so high that some doctors will not prescribe estrogen if you are a smoker; most will only prescribe you a low dose as long as you are still smoking. The risk of blood clots may be reduced by taking estrogen via skin patch, cream, or gel (rather than pill/injection) and also by using a lower dose of estrogen. Taking estrogen changes the way your body metabolizes and stores fat.
Taking estrogen can increase deposits of fat around your internal organs, which is associated with increased risk for diabetes and heart disease.
Estrogen also increases the risk of gallstones, which can block your gallbladder. If you have chest or abdominal pain, you should see a medical
professional right away. Estrogen can cause increased blood pressure. This can be counteracted by taking it with spironolactone, which tends to lower blood pressure. If you can’t take spironolactone, there are other changes that can be tried, including other types of medication, exercise, and changes to diet. In some MTFs estrogen causes nausea and vomiting, similar to morning sickness in pregnant women. Estrogen can also cause headaches or migraines. If you are getting frequent headaches/migraines or the pain is unusually bad, or if you are vomiting for more than a couple of days, talk to a health professional.

With breast growth there is often an increase in milky discharge from the nipples (galactorrhea). This is caused by the estrogen stimulating the
production of the hormone prolactin, which in turn stimulates breast ducts to form milk. It is not known whether this increases the risk of noncancerous tumours of the pituitary gland, which produces prolactin (prolactinoma). Although prolactinoma is usually not life-threatening, it
can damage vision and cause headaches. For this reason, blood levels of prolactin are usually checked for at least three years when you start
taking estrogen, and further tests may be ordered if prolactin levels are very high or if prolactinoma is suspected.

It is not known if estrogen increases the risks of breast cancer (see Trans people and cancer booklet). There have been cases of MTFs who
have developed breast cancer after starting hormones. Risks of breast cancer are increased if you have a family history of breast cancer, have
been taking estrogen and/or progestagens for more than 5 years, are age 50+, or are overweight. Talk with your health care provider about
screening tests that can be done to catch early signs of breast cancer.”

  10. “We encourage Women to stop donating to the ACLU, which has bought into the woman-hating “gender identity” agenda completely”.

I do believe that the ACLU isn’t as bad as the Sylvia Rivera Law Prison Project that advocates for sex reassignment surgery for men convicted of murdering 13 year old black girls (Synthia China Blast), and men convicted of murdering women (Robert, “Michelle”, Kosilek). Having said this, isn’t it true that the ACLU originally supported AB1266? Is there any “gender identity” law that the ACLU hasn’t supported?

    As to Manning,

Bradley Manning ‘attacked female soldier and sent picture of himself as a woman’

Bradley Manning attacked a female soldier and sent his superiors a picture of himself dressed as a woman in the weeks before he was arrested

…Captain Casey Fulton, who served in the same unit, said on Sunday that during one late night shift in May 2010 she found Pte Manning pinned to the ground by his female superior, Specialist Jihrleah Showman.

“[Showman] said he had struck her and she had a big red welt on her face,” Captain Fulton said.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8964543/Bradley-Manning-attacked-female-soldier-and-sent-picture-of-himself-as-a-woman.html

If bradass87, Chelsea Manning does get female hormones and surgery, where will they put him? I hope they never put him in a women’s prison. I’m utterly fed up with males who commit crimes while they are male, penis and all, and then start “identifying as a woman” while in prison. It reminds me of wife killer Robert, “Michelle”, Kosilek, Synthia China Blast who was convicted of murdering a 13 year old black girl, Kenneth Hunt, Sandy Jo Battista, and Douglas, “Donna”, Perry.

  11. This is very interesting, and I would like to follow up on this….

“On August 20, 2014, approximately six weeks after my attorneys put in a request for my medical records from the USDB, I was informed that I would be issued sports bras and female underwear.”

Does the U.S. Army routinely issue sports bras and female underwear to male soldiers? It’s logical to assume that some male soldiers might use female underwear as part of some sort of sexual fetish? What else do they have to do to occupy their time? Since when is a sexual fetish a civil right? Has anyone heard of autogynephilia? It’s a dirty little secret that transgender activists refuse to admit. For some men, wearing women’s underwear and dressing up is a sexual fetish. Sometimes there is a fine line between autogynephilia and “gender dysphoria”. Transgender activists pitch a fit when people bring this up, but it’s the truth.

    http://culturallyboundgender.wordpress.com/2013/04/27/but-theres-no-such-thing-as-autogynephilia-phone-sex-the-male-gaze-and-how-blanchard-and-trans-activists-both-get-it-wrong/

The U.S. Army issued Bradley Manning sports bras and female underwear to cater to his sexual fetish and offers him psychotherapy. This is not good enough for a man who was sentenced to 35 years in a military prison for leaking 700,000 classified documents. In all honesty, the U.S. Army has done enough to cater to his special needs. Maybe bradass87 Chelsea Manning is a emotionally disturbed narcissistic man.

I do feel sorry for him, and I don’t want anything to happen to him. I also believes he needs support while incarcerated, but the U.S. Army has done enough to meet this needs.
