Amnesty International has released an advocacy piece in which it details requirements of various countries in Europe for individuals to legally “change their sex.”  In the Report, Amnesty condemns requirements that individuals undergo “invasive surgery, sterilisation, hormone therapy or psychiatric testing” before they can change their legal status.  Speaking in Dublin, Colm O’Gorman, Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland described such practices as abhorrent, degrading and inhumane.

Amnesty has not made any public statements as to how abhorrent, degrading and inhumane it is to permit Men to declare they are Women and gain access to all Women-only space, including rape crisis shelters, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, and women’s prisons.   Those concerns were detailed in a letter to the United Nations in 2011.
